Jack the Ripper: London Discovery Tours

Original bar exterior frequented by Ripper victim.
The Jack the Ripper tour, offered by London Discovery Tours is a fun way to learn some history and see a part of London that you might not venture to on your own. The tour begins at the Aldgate East tube station, and a guide will meet you as you exit the station. The tour costs 9 pounds a person, and each group is limited to 30 people. Tickets must be bought in advance online. The tour is highly informative, and an interesting history lesson for those not already familiar with Jack the Ripper. One downside of this tour is the fact that some of the original sites of the bodies’ discovery have been severely altered over time. The tour is more useful for the wealth of information the guides possess than for seeing historical building where the Jack the Ripper murder investigation was carried out. This tour is not recommended for those who have a weak stomach or are easily frightened. The tour guides show a large number of pictures, which give context to the verbal history they relay. Some of this pictures and details are especially graphic in nature. They will warn before showing a graphic picture, but the tour is focused on a morbid topic, so be wary of attending if you are easily offended by gore. The guides are friendly and offer many chances to ask questions. Overall, this tour is great for someone who has a preexisting interest in Jack the Ripper, but may be a bit much for some. The tour is not appropriate for children.
